Role Overview
The Collections Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of overdue loan accounts, engaging clients to negotiate repayment arrangements, and ensuring timely recovery of outstanding debts. collections/loan management system. - Identify early warning signs of delinquency and take proactive steps to minimize further deterioration of the portfolio at risk (PAR).
- Conduct client and, where necessary, guarantor visits to assess repayment capacity and agree on recovery plans.
- Handle client queries and disputes professionally, escalating complex or high-risk cases to the Collections
Manager or Credit Committee where necessary. - Ensure all collection activities comply with UMRA regulations, the institution’s credit policy, and relevant
consumer protection standards. - Meet or exceed individual and team recovery targets, PAR reduction goals, and other collections KPIs.
- Liaise with internal departments (Credit, Legal, Branch Operations) to resolve account issues and support
loan recovery, including legal recovery processes where required. - Prepare regular reports on portfolio status, recovery rates, and PAR trends for management review.
- Maintain a high standard of client relations, even in difficult or sensitive conversations, in line with the
institution’s development-focused, community-oriented mission
